SPIE, the International Society for Optical engineering was formed in 1955 for the advancement of optically based test and measurement equipment. Over the 50 years, the SPIE members through their collective talents have influenced the future of optical, technical, and scientific discovery.  The society provides scholarships, grants and financial support to encourage scientific and technological education. In addition SPIE partners with other organizations to raise the visibility of optics and accelerates its growing significance in all areas of technological improvement. SPIE has become the largest international force for exchange, collection and dissemination of knowledge in optics. The society's international network of Student Chapters connects students and professionals worldwide. The growing network of chapters enables students to connect with other programs and professionals, further supporting the next generation of scientists, engineers, and society leaders.

 

 

 

      SPIE CUSAT student chapter was formally inaugurated on  27th  October  2005   by     Prof. Dr. Porsezian , Pondicherry University, India. Prof Dr.V.C.Kuriakose, Head of the Department of Physics presided over the inaugural ceremony. Dr.M.K.Jayaraj (staff advisor), Nisha.M (president), and Asha.A.S (secretary) were present in the function.
