Dr. Sabeena M joined in the department of Physics, Cochin University of Science and Technology in June 2017 after receiving her PhD degree from Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), Mumbai, India. During her PhD, she worked in the Physical Metallurgy Group at Indira Gandhi Center for Atomic Research (IGCAR), Kalpakkam. Her PhD thesis focuses on the Phase Transformations in Ti-Mo Alloys. She has MSc degree in Physics from the School of Pure and Applied Physics (SPAP), MG University Kottayam. Dr. Sabeena’s research interests include diffusional and non-diffusional phase transformations in Ti based alloys. Her main focus is the identification of crystal structure of transformation products of Ti-Mo alloys at various conditions, which include detailed Rietveld refinement of conventional and Synchrotron XRD pattern to arrive at accurate lattice parameter, atom positions, coordination number, bond length, 3-D strain distribution and the bonding characteristics. Microstructural studies are mainly carried out using Optical Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, and Transmission Electron Microscopy.
